Heat shrink tubing is a very practical and common small item. Its core principle is that it shrinks when heated, thus tightly wrapping the object and serving functions such as insulation, protection, marking and binding.
1.Repair damaged outer insulation of wires
The positions of the mobile phone data cable, charger cable and headphone cable near the plug have been frequently bent and broken, with the internal metal wires exposed, which is very dangerous.
Usage: Cut a piece of heat shrink tubing of appropriate size, put it over the damaged area, and heat it with a hair dryer or lighter (handle with care). It will contract tightly, wrap around the damaged area, and restore its insulation and protective functions. It is more beautiful and durable than using electrical tape.
2.Make or repair tool handles
Scene: The original plastic handles of tools such as screwdrivers and pliers are aged, cracked or too slippery to handle;
Usage: Select a slightly larger diameter heat shrink tube and place it over the metal handle. After heating, it will shrink to form a thick, anti-slip and insulating new handle, providing a very comfortable grip
3.Battery insulation and binding
In some toys or devices, multiple batteries (such as 18650 lithium batteries) are used. They need to be neatly bundled together and it is necessary to ensure that the positive and negative poles do not accidentally short-circuit.
Usage: Bind several batteries together with heat shrink tubing. This not only serves to fix them but also provides an additional insulating layer for each battery, making it more professional and reliable than using tape.
4.Waterproofing for outdoor products
The connection points or weak links of items such as tent poles, fishing rods, and hiking poles need to be strengthened in terms of waterproofing and wear resistance.
Usage: By attaching heat shrink tubing to specific areas and heating it, a sturdy waterproof protective cover can be formed.
