The working principle of heat shrink tubing is mainly based on the "memory effect" of polymer materials. Heat shrink tubing is usually made of radiation cross-linked polyolefin materials, such as polyethylene or polypropylene. These materials are specially treated during the production process so that they can shrink evenly when heated. When the heat shrink tubing is slipped over the wire or cable and heated using a heat gun or oven, the heat shrink tubing will shrink and tightly wrap around the surface of the wire or cable to form a uniform protective layer.
